Exhibition 【北欧モダニズムと遊ぶ　ベルント・フリーベリ展】Exhibition of Berndt Friberg

1950年代を中心に活躍した、スウェーデンを代表する陶芸家「ベルント・フリーベリ」。
その轆轤の高い技術力と、多彩な釉調から生まれる彼の作品はシンプルでありながらも驚くほどに幅広いバリエーションを残しています。
薄く軽やかな素地から生まれるフォルムは、大作でも得意とするミニチュアでもその優美な柔らかさを変えず、釉薬も色彩の幅だけではない、複雑なグラデーションと景色を作り出しています。
今回は「北欧モダニズムと遊ぶ」と題し、ベルント・フリーベリ作品の中から実際に日常の生活の中に取り入れたいものをご紹介致します。「見立て」としての茶碗は茶席だけではなく、茶箱にも。酒盃や徳利として使うフリーベリ作品も、また違う愉しさがあり、花器は現代の住まいに自然に馴染む姿をしています。
北欧モダニズムの巨匠「ベルント・フリーベリ」。視覚的な美しさだけではない、新たな側面を発見して戴ければ幸いです。

ベルント・フリーベリ / Berndt Friberg (1899-1981)
1899年スウェーデン生まれ。34年よりグスタフスベリ製陶所に籍を置き、41年より製陶所内に自らの工房を設立。生涯、数千におよぶ器を自ら轆轤で制作、日本や中国、朝鮮の古陶磁から影響を受け、フォルムや釉薬を追求した。その釉調や肌など、女性的な美しさを感じさせる繊細で優美なものが多い。
作品はメトロポリタン美術館ほか世界各国の美術館に収蔵されている。ミラノトリエンナーレにて1947年、51年、54年に金賞。

Berndt Friberg, a succeeded Swedish potter in around 1950. He produced various potteries by his outstanding skills of hand-wheeling and treating wide range of glazes. The precisely thinned airy forms of his works, which give soft and feminine impressions, are commonly seen in the large-size works and miniatures. His glazes give the works various color ranges as well as complex gradations, which create adorable characteristics of the scenery.
In this exhibition entitled “Exploring the works of Berndt Friberg,” we would like to introduce his works that can be taken into our daily lives. You may find his bowls could be suitable for using in a formal tea ceremony, as well as outdoor tea ceremony. It is also enjoyable to use his flower vase as a tokkuri and miniature a sakazuki, on the other hand they just naturally fit to the modern interior of houses of the present.
We would like our customers to not only enjoy the visual aesthetics but open a door to new discovery for everyday use.
