本作品も飴釉窯変瓶子(No.16) と同時期に制作された瓶子である。生涯を通して様々な釉薬を使い大小の瓶子が作られた。その中でも古瀬戸と名付けた作品は多くなく嶺男先生の特別な思いも伝わってくる。また40cmを超える瓶子は数点しかない。重厚な造形に円相のような劃画文が描かれている。宝石のように煌めく釉薬が平らな肩に施されている。立ち上がった口部は他の瓶子よりも太くまるで人物の顔にも見えてくる。何事にも動じない達観した大人がいるようにも思える。

He produced vases in this shape throughout his life, using a variety of glazes in large and small sizes, Among them, there are not many works named “Koseto”, which shows the special feeling of Mineo. There are only a few vases larger than 40 cm. The massive form is decorated with a circular painting pattern, and the jewel-like glaze is applied to the flat shoulder. The upturned mouth is thicker than other vases and looks like a person’s face. It seems as if there is a mature adult who is unfazed by anything.
