Exhibition 【乾漆　鎌田克慈展】 Exhibition of Kamata Katsuji

数層の麻布を素地にして漆を塗り固める「乾漆」。
その器は驚くほど軽く、それでいて丈夫なことでも知られている。
鎌田さんの乾漆には特有の軽やかさがある。
木地の漆器にはない「ゆらぎ」や「うねり」。
器としての強度を考え高台等に木地を用いることもあるが、 先端からは更にその先へ自然に伸びていくような、例えるなら草原を抜ける風のような、自然な軽やかさを持っている。

“Kanshitsu” is a technique of lacquering the dish-formed layers of hemp cloth. Those are surprisingly light in weight but durable.
Although sometimes he reinforce the foot of bowls with wood, Kanshitsu works by Kamata Katsuji have distinctive lightness, fluctuation and undulation, which wooden dishes don’t have.
The lightness seems to have imaginary lines from the edge, growing naturally from the edge, which enables us to imagine a comfortable wind blowing through a green field.
