博多から唐津に向かうと筑前前原（まえばる）を通る。
ここは大陸との交流も盛んで、日本最大の銅鏡が発掘された「伊都国」が弥生時代に栄えたところ。
初期唐津発祥の地で斑唐津を追求する浜本洋好先生はこの地の肥沃餅藁を使っている。現代では台風に強い背の低いうるち米に頼るが、この手の藁は硬く自分好みの斑唐津には不向きだというのだ。
古代から続く丈の高い餅藁を栽培している前原の農家を探して種籾を分けていただき、地元・北波多の農家に栽培してもらっている。収穫後、藁を干してから焼いて炭状の藁灰釉を作る。窯詰め時には真っ黒い茶碗も高温焼成で柔らかい釉調の斑唐津が誕生する。
