【「粋」 近代巨匠名品展 】’SUI’ The Grand Masters Commemorating 50 years of Shibuya Kurodatoen

ご挨拶

「粋」は「いき」という意味合いの他に「すい」という洗練された美、極め結実した美意識の理念の意味があります。今回の展示会は「粋」をテーマに近代巨匠作家の名品を集めました。展示会としては一年以上も延びてしまいましたが、良いご縁を戴き、以前から思い入れのある作品との出会いもあり、内容もより充実出来たものと思っております。

疫病や天災などが猛威を振い、人と会うことさえ憚れてしまった時、慰みも癒しも生きる力も欲しかった時、あらためて美術品の誠の力が際立ってきたように思います。

Foreward

The word "IKI" has the meaning of "of well-cultivated tastes”, and at the same time you read the character in another pronunciation “SUI”, it also means refined beauty and the philosophy of aesthetic that has reached its peak. The theme of this exhibition was "SUI" and we collected masterpieces by modern master artists. Although the exhibition has been delayed for more than a year, we believe that we have been able to enrich the content of the exhibition through good fortune and encounters with works that we have always been attached to.

When plagues and natural disasters are raging and we are afraid to even meet people, and when we want comfort, healing, and strength to live, the power of sincerity in art seems to stand out once again.
