濱田 庄司HAMADA Shoji

陶歴/ History

明治27年 神奈川県(現在の川崎市)に生まれる。
大正2年 東京高等工業学校窯業科に入学、板谷波山に師事。
大正5年 卒業後、河井寛次郎と共に京都市立陶磁器試験場にて釉薬の研究を行う。
大正9年 リーチ帰国に同行し、イギリスにて共同で築窯する。
大正12年 ロンドンで個展開催、成功をおさめる。
大正13年 帰国後、沖縄(壺屋窯)などで学ぶ。
昭和5年 益子にて作陶を開始する。
昭和30年 民芸陶器にて重要無形文化財保持者に指定される。
昭和37年 日本民藝館の第二代館長に就任する。
昭和43年 文化勲章受章。
昭和52年 自ら蒐集した民芸品を展示する益子参考う館を開館。
昭和53年 83歳で逝去。
1894 HAMADA Shoji was born in Kanagwa.
1913 Entered the high school of Tokyo Institute of Technology and met a professr ITAYA Hazan. After graduation, Shoji worked with Kanjiro Kawai in Kyoto.
1924 He went to England with Bernard Leach and they established a kiln together. He achieved big success from several individual exhibitions. After coming back to Japan, he moved to Okinawa, the southest Island in Japan and learned the traditional technique of Okinawa ceramics.
1930 He began his work in Mashiko in 1930.
1955 He was selected as an important intangible cultural asset for his Folk Art
1968 He won an Order of Culture.
1977 Sakokan Mashiko (HAMADA Shoji Museum) was established.
